Italian conductor Giancarlo Rizzi was born in 1982 in Verona and he graduated at the Sibelius Academy with Leif Segerstam in orchestral conducting.

 

In summer 2014 he has been invited by Lorin Maazel to join his conducting masterclass during the Castleton Festival (USA).

 

 He collaborates regularly with orchestras like Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, I Pomeriggi Musicali, Het Gelders Orkest and others.

 

He made his debut with leading Finnish orchestras such Lahti Sinfonia, Tampere Philarmonia, Turku Philharmonics and the National Opera, conducting Pagliacci.

 

 In September he will make his Vienna debut at the Theater an der Wien, one of the best thetaers in the world, conducting a soughtafter new production of Gounod's Faust with Nikolaus Habjan as director.
